Régis DEBRAY, founder of cliiic.com, is revolutionizing Collaborative Photo Sharing.
Interview by Thomas HANKOER at the IT Entrepreneurs Meeting in Hauts-de-France.
R.D.: Of course. The idea was born from an obvious observation that many of us have experienced: attending a wedding, birthday, or evening with friends, where everyone takes photos with their smartphone, but these shots end up scattered in personal galleries, rarely shared effectively.
R.D.: With my 30 years in IT engineering and my passion for photography, I identified a gap in this digital ecosystem: There simply was no truly simple and accessible solution for creating collaborative photo albums.
Available services either required installing specific applications, offered mediocre performance, or were often prohibitively expensive.
That's what prompted me to launch cliiic.com in May 2025.
By the way, my wife Isabelle and I were the first to test the service from its launch, during our wedding!
R.D.: Our main innovation lies in its striking simplicity, via a simple QR Code. Our goal was to remove all friction.
When you organize an event, the last thing you want is to ask your guests to install yet another app.
With cliiic.com, you just need to scan a QR Code to instantly access the album and start sharing your photos.
The principle is simple: the organizer creates an album, a unique QR Code is generated for the event, participants scan it with their smartphone, and they directly access the album to upload their shots.
The advantages are clear: no app download required, instant access on iPhone, Android or even a computer, no mandatory account creation for contributors, and universal compatibility without complex codes.
The QR Code can be displayed on a phone, printed on an invitation, integrated into decorations, or projected on a screen.
R.D.: That was a non-negotiable point for me. On cliiic.com, all photos are stored in high quality, preserving the richness of details and colors.
We use the latest technologies to maintain optimal photographic quality while optimizing the space used in albums.
Many services heavily compress images to save space, which I find unfortunate – people capture beautiful moments, why degrade these memories?
R.D.: This allows printing photos in very good quality, zooming without pixelation, file longevity, and respect for the photographer's work, whether amateur with their smartphone or professional.
My IT experience allowed me to optimize the infrastructure to offer this level of quality without sacrificing performance or quality.
The clean interface showcases the photos, with smooth navigation and faithful color rendering.
R.D.: Absolutely, versatility is a major asset. We designed it for all life moments.
For outings with friends like an impromptu evening or a hike, simplicity encourages spontaneous uses – we see many users creating albums for everyday moments.
For family celebrations like birthdays or baptisms, even grandparents less comfortable with technology can contribute via the QR Code.
Weddings are perfect: couples display the QR Code on their invitation or at the reception, thus recovering both official photos and candid moments in High Quality.
Finally, for professional events like seminars or team-buildings, it's convenient for documenting and sharing internally.
R.D.: The numbers are encouraging: over 7,000 monthly visits and about a hundred albums created, which is remarkable for such a young service.
These first months have exceeded our expectations. We see users returning for multiple albums, and the QR Code system convinces even those reluctant about technology.
That's the best indicator of satisfaction. The rapid adoption is explained by word-of-mouth in the event industry and the virality of the concept – each participant becomes a potential advocate.
R.D.: From the design phase, cliiic.com was conceived as a global service.
The platform is already accessible in 15 languages and offers payments in 4 currencies, facilitating global adoption.
Photo sharing is a universal usage, as is the QR Code understood everywhere.
My experience taught me the importance of thinking internationally from the start. This distinguishes us from many startups that first focus on a local market.
R.D.: The combination of my web expertise and my passion for photography has created a differentiating service: no app, a QR Code for instant access, High Quality photos.
In a complex digital ecosystem, there's room for simple, effective, and accessible solutions.
That's what we offer with cliiic.com. The numbers prove it: the market was waiting for this.
You scan, you cliiic, and you preserve memories for life.
T.H.: Thank you, Régis DEBRAY, for this fascinating conversation.
